Persollo: Describe yourself in 5 words.

Natalia: Creative, Social, Stylish, Obsessive, Ambitious.

P: Tell us shortly how did you start your way in the world of social?

N: My passion has always been communication and I actually work in PR! I started blogging on the side as a creative outlet and to foster my love for fashion, food, beauty and travel.

P: When did you realize that you have your tribe (kinda woke up famous)?

N: What do you mean? I am still waiting for that to happen!

P: When did you have your 1st collaboration (paid or barter)? How many followers did you have back then?

N: I actually don’t remember! I started getting things “sent” to me about 2 years ago and I had about 2,000 followers. It was an Australian jewellery brand and actually happened on my Birthday! First paid partnership started over 5,000 followers.

P: Your best and worst collaboration experiences and why (you don’t have to call the name of brand).

N: My best are too many to name! Dyson, Lancome, Opallac, Sigma. Most brands are awesome to work with. There’s also some great PR agencies who I adore working with! Worst is pushy and demanding brands who expect way too much and give very little back. A lot of “brands” still don’t understand how influencers work and don’t understand that we often have full-time jobs too. As soon as I get a sense that the brand is too demanding I say no or end the collaboration.

P: Who makes photos for you? How do you edit your pictures?

N: I do most of my photos from start to finish with the exception when I am out at events or travelling and don’t have my tripod. In that case – my husband does. I like to use VSCO app for editing.

P: You think pictures or captions are more important?

N: We live in such a visual world so I think having a strong picture is much more important than text. Of course, if you have a strong message to share then captions work best. I have a lot of great feedback on my writing on www.chicontherun.com – my blog site. So here, text is much more powerful.

P: How do you cope with negative comments or critique on your social accounts?

N: I’m pretty lucky and don’t see too much of it. However, I’ve heard some negative things from people I know in Canberra behind my back. I just think it’s their problem not mine.

P: How to become an influencer — your personal recipe, given the hot new social trends.

N: Take great photos, do it for love and don’t give up! Great content is king and you have to be different as it’s SUCH a competitive field right now.
