Top Instagram Updates & Features in July

Instagram is constantly changing, adding new features every month. So we’ve put together a list of top Instagram features in July you may not know about and how to use them!

IGTV Monetization through ads.

As more brands are now commissioning video content for their influencer marketing campaigns, this is an update all bloggers have been waiting for! Video ads will appear when users click to watch IGTV videos from the video’s preview in their Instagram feed. Creators can now directly benefit from this, as they will be getting a share in the advertising revenue each time a user clicks on their IGTV video preview and see the ad.

Paid Badges for influencers.

Instagram developers are afraid that their entire audience (influencers and all their audiences) will flock to TikTok. One of the new features they’re offering to creators is "badges", which users can purchase during a creator’s IGTV live. These badges will appear next to the user’s name throughout the entire live. This month this feature starts small testing before expanding to the US, UK, Australia, France, Italy, Spain and other countries.

In-testing this month: Shoppable profiles to all business accounts.

Instagram announced that any user with a business or creator account — including influencers and small sellers — can apply for Instagram Shopping. An interested business must apply and follow IG's set of guidelines, in order to qualify for access to Instagram Shops. Main thing - your product listings must come from a website that has been verified as a domain you both sell from and own. Also accounts must have demonstrated trustworthiness, that means you need to have a sufficient follower base. It's successful, Instagram could become a player in the industry, rivaling big platforms like Etsy and others, that independent sellers use.

In-testing this month: Post Caption Shopping Tags.

Instagram allows businesses to tag their posts’ images and stories with clickable product tags. But now they are looking to change that and are testing shopping tags that you can add to the post’s caption. We think this feature gives a new way to talk about products and drive clicks and conversions.

In-testing this month: Messenger & Direct Integration.

Since the end of 2019 Facebook had an idea to integrate Facebook Messenger with Direct Messaging on Instagram and till now they continue testing this feature. This feature could open up new opportunities for your business - a single, streamlined direct message option for multiple channels. It will make it easier for us to keep up with incoming messages from users, allowing brands&influencers to respond quickly and to engage meaningfully.

That's it for July. Keep an eye out for next month’s Instagram updates.
